
BIOGRAPHY
VISHNU GUPTA
My name is Vishnu Gupta. I am a Writer, Photographer, and Filmmaker based in Mumbai, India.
My experience in the film industry includes working as Director’s Assistant for Rajan Khosa, being 2nd 2nd Assistant Director
(Action AD) on Nikhil Bhat’s KILL, Director’s Assistant on Christopher Nolan’s TENET, Production Assistant on Mira
Nair’s A Suitable Boy, Director’s Assistant on Raj Krishna’s Chowkidaar (production postponed) and Assistant Director on
an Ad Campaign for The Bowl Company. Most recently I worked for Chaitanya Tamhane as still photographer on a short film
produced by him. Currently I am writing several feature film scripts and editing a short fiction film that I wrote and directed.
I have written and directed 6 short fiction films, and shot and directed 4 short documentaries. I am a prolific photographer,
having had my works exhibited in the prestigious Jehangir Art Gallery, Kala Ghoda Arts Festival, and Fluxus Chapel,
Mumbai and Sanskruti Bhawan, Goa. I am planning exhibitions in Delhi, Kolkata, Jaipur, and Udaipur.
I received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Swarthmore College where I majored in Political Science and minored in Philosophy
and Film and Media Studies. I have served as Photography and Videography Assistant for United Nations ITU in Geneva,
Switzerland, and as Photography Editor of The Daily Gazette, Swarthmore College’s premier campus newspaper. I have
authored several newspaper articles on art, cinema, politics, and economics published in The Wire, Film Companion, The
Quint, and Business World.
